I thought I would share a few things we are focused on right now. Information Technology Services means different things to our customers. To students, we’re where they get their ID and who they call when they need more bandwidth. To faculty, we’re who they call when they need a wiki, website, or help with a password. To staff, we’re the IT partner who helps ensure IT runs smoothly across campus. ITS is many things too many people.
Recently, we developed a page to publish the key projects that we are focused on. It should allow you to see the status of projects in your team and others across our organization. We have created project pages at IT@UT: it.utexas.edu/projects. On these pages, you will find short descriptions of several of the key projects we undertake to provide and enhance current services in the IT environment and to support world-class research and teaching at UT. (Note: this is not an exhaustive list, only high priority items.) These project pages provide deeper insight into some of the things we do, help customers to understand when we expect to see the projects come to fruition, and provide insight into the value of our efforts.
Also, it is always great when campus recognizes the good work from our team. Autumn Shields, IT Manager in Applications, was recently selected to receive the 2018 Cathy Lester IT Excellence Award, which recognizes individuals with an enduring track record for excellence. The award notification notes: “She helps her teams get it right and not just get it done.” Congratulations, Autumn!
