Brad Englert, Chief Information Officer, announced that the new Group E-Mail system launched Monday, February 17, 2014. The Group E-Mail system is used when informational, promotional, and urgent messages sanctioned by the University need to be sent to specific groups across campus. The new system addresses a long-standing campus need for a new, more functional and feature rich solution, and this capability replaces old custom developed programs we will no longer have to maintain.
This new solution was developed in partnership with Regroup, a Software as a Service (Saas) product, which enables a wide array of supported features that were not previously available, including:
- Email templates
- HTML formatted emails
- Multiple attachments
- Carbon copy (“cc”) functionality
- Capacity to send emails to large lists/groups and to send emails to multiple lists
- Statistics for sent messages
- Addition of a ‘Promotional’ message category at the specific request of the University Staff Council
- Increased security through enhanced moderation processes
Group owners and group email message senders authorized in the previous system have the same designations in the new system. Once logged in , group owners and message senders can request authorization to send specific messages, manage subscriptions to Informational and Promotional messages, and create custom lists.
