Next Generation Network (NGN) Program: Governance

The Next Generation Network Project has three governing bodies:

Leadership Committee: to provide leadership and direction on business objectives and priorities during the project.

  • Paul Kinscherff, Deputy to the President for Business Development and Planning
  • David E. Platt, PhD, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs
  • Jennifer Lyon Gardner, PhD, Deputy Vice President for Research
  • Dan Stanzione, PhD, Associate Vice PVP Research, TACC

Steering Committee: to review and respond to issues that arise during the project, provide consistency regarding policy decisions and operational preferences, test the impact of new policy directions, and assess risk.

  • Diana Marculescu, PhD, Department Chair, Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • Mark McFarland, Executive Director of IT, College of Natural Sciences (ITLC Chair)
  • Kavita Radhakrishnan, PhD, Associate Professor, School of Nursing (C-13 Chair)
  • Christian Rafidi, Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration, College of Liberal Arts, (CUBO Representative)

Working Group: to develop a working understanding of the details of the scope and intent of the engagement and to provide necessary input at key points during the work.  It is composed of the ITLC-Networking and Telecommunication Standing Committee (NTSC).

  • Jason Ragland, Senior Network Security Analyst, Information Security Office
  • Nathaniel Selman, Assistant Director, Cockrell School of Engineering
  • Shannon Strank, Assistant Director, Center for Electromechanics

Additional input and oversight will be provided by existing university governance committees including:  Business and Administrative Leadership Council (BAITLC), Council of University Business Officers (CUBO), Faculty Council Information Technology Committee (C-13), Information Technology Leadership Committee (ITLC), and other existing university governance committees.
